The best Friday the 13th ever!

On friday the 13th I went in for my 39wk appointment. My blood pressure was high. They checked it twice and it was 142/92. I also had an internal exam (2cms 50% effaced -2 station) & had my membranes stripped by total accident. The midwife thought it was in my file to be stripped but it wasn't. It completely worked out since I was going to ask her if I was eligible for it anyway.

I was admitted into the hospital for a NTST which I passed. While I was hooked up to the BP machine I started having contractions and didn't know it. I was feeling mild cramping in my lower abdomen and back. I asked the nurse if I was having contractions and she said yes. Since I was fine and my contractions were hardly strong or regular, I was sent home @ 12 noon.

From the time we left the hospital I continued to have irregular contractions until 6pm. From 6-7 my contractions were 7 minutes apart and were getting stronger and closer. I went to the bathroom and had lots blood tinged mucus discharge. I called my midwife at 8pm and she told me to come in. We got to the hospital around 8:45pm where I was checked I was still 2 cms 50% effaced but now -1 station. I had a few contractions and the nurse on duty told me they were teeny (pssssh!!!) and no where near consistant enough to be real labor. She explained that I was in Early Labor and would probably be back on sunday. I was given 2 percocets and sent home because I had no cervical change. She made it a point to let me know that the percocets wouldn't be strong enough to stop the pain of real labor.

We got home and I layed down. My contractions continued even with the percocets =/. At around 12:50am I lost the rest of my mucus plug and had more "bloody show". At 1:20am my water broke in mid contraction while I was trying to talk through it w/ my fiance. We pretty much flew out the door!

I got admitted @ 2am. I was 5cms 75% effaced 0 station and having contractions every 2 mins. I went without meds until I reached 8cms and then I got an epi. The best thing ever!!!! At around 8:20am I felt tons of pressure and called for the nurse, she checked and his head was right there. I began pushing at 8:30am and Tahj Douglas King was born @ 8:40am. He was 8lbs 8oz, 20.5 inches long. He's everything I could ever ask for. =D
